Welcome to the funny farm. As for the K&N filter, check their catalog for the specific application. Aftermarket support for the Savage is a joke, and many of the regulars here have made their own filter using dirt bike filter foam after burning the paper out of the original filter frame. If you do this, you will likely need to rejet your carb, not only remove the white spacer. Your power may go up, but your fuel economy is going to drop, significantly. My 98 model has the original air cleaner and the white spacer, and on long road trips averages 71+ mpg. You won't get that with the carb and filter massaged.
